Sam Kivi is CTO and co-founder of Grid Share, a climate tech startup developing high impact solutions to accelerate the energy transition and reduce carbon emissions. He has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, beginning in power electronics design and manufacture at Enatel in Christchurch, where he led teams advancing next-generation solar inverters and battery charging technologies. Grid Share’s two-megawatt energy-responsive data centre in Southland now provides renewable compute services, energy asset optimisation, and grid resilience support. In 2023 the company was selected to join the global Free Electrons clean tech programme, collaborating with major energy companies on scalable solutions to renewable integration. Sam holds a BSc in Physics from Canterbury University and lives in Lyttelton.
